Victoria Downtown Y

Access

The Y is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic all members are required to reserve a timeslot in order to access the Y. At this time we are not able to accommodate guests, visitors or day fee participants.

All members, at time of check in are required to present their old membership card or photo ID.

Lockers

During the COVID-19 pandemic lockers are unavailable at this time. Please come dressed to work out (for the pool, dressed as if you’re going to the beach); bring only what you need for your visit to the Y)

Lost and found

During the COVID-19 pandemic we are unable to store any items left behind.

Parking

Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and is for Downtown Y members while they are using the Downtown facility for a maximum of 2-hours. Parking lot entrances are located on Broughton Street and on Courtney Street.

Parking passes are issued at the time of membership sign-up and all parking passes expire on December 31. New parking passes are available for pick up at the Membership Desk on December 1 of each year for the next calendar year. It is the responsibility of the member to renew their parking pass before December 31.

Parking passes must be displayed on the rear-view mirror of the vehicle. Robbins Parking Services monitors the Downtown Y parking lot. Failure to comply with parking guidelines may result in ticketing or towing by Robbins. All parking disputes must be addressed with Robbins.

Please note: There is a waiting lane in the Broughton Street parking lot. This lane is for members wishing to wait for an available space if the lot is full. Do not idle or block the sidewalk if you choose to use the waiting lane.

Pool

During the COVID-19 pandemic showers are available for a ‘quick cleansing shower’ wearing your bathing suit; change rooms are unavailable at this time.

Towels

Towel service is available at the Victoria Downtown Y. If you plan to visit another Y location please bring your own towel.

Etiquette

The Y is a shared experience for everyone to enjoy. Each of us can make it better for all by being considerate of others. Y members, participants and staff pledge to treat one another with respect and dignity. Membership is enhanced when all members share in promoting agreed standards of courtesy and behaviour.

Cell Phones

Cell phones should not be used on equipment or in workout areas. Please take calls in the lobby area only.

Dress Code

Appropriate clothing, such as non-marking indoor athletic shoes, t-shirts, athletic pants, leggings or shorts with a minimum inseam of 3” are required in the Y. We ask that you do not wear revealing clothing or clothing with inappropriate slogans or offensive comments. All members are required to wear closed toed shoes (no sandals) in the fitness area. We want all of our members to feel comfortable at the Y. Those members who do not meet the dress code will be asked to change.

Smoking Policy

There is no smoking anywhere on Y property. This includes parking lots.

Sensitivities to scents

Some members have severe allergies or sensitivities to strong scents. Please restrict the use of perfumes, colognes, hairsprays and body sprays.

Food and drink

Food and drink is not permitted in the fitness area. Non-spill, non-breakable beverage containers may be used throughout the facility. Please help us keep our facility clean and well-maintained.

Image recording devices

For personal security and privacy, photography and video recording are not permitted anywhere in the facility. Any exception to this protocol is only with expressed written permission of the Centre Manager. The use of image recording devices (including cell phone/PDA/camera or other recording device) in a suspicious manner should be brought to the attention of a staff member immediately.

Business

No person may conduct unauthorized business in any Y facility.

Langford Westhills Y
