Required Wearing of a Non-Medical Mask/Face Coverings

As per Provincial Health Officer order, everyone ages 12 years or older are required to wear a face covering while in the Y and transitioning to and from activities. Wearing a face covering while engaged in physical activity is not required.

Fitness Studio – Group Fitness

Fitness Studio – Group Fitness includes access to water bottle fill station and washrooms. There will be no equipment provided for Yoga classes, participants must bring their own mats, blocks, etc.  Arrive for your reservation at the main entrance. Lane Pool/Leisure Pool – Aquafit Class

Lane Pool/Leisure Pool – Aquafit Class will require members to reserve a space in the pool they wish to do aquafit in.  Members must reserve a space in either the lane pool or leisure pool. Members may not change their pool choice upon arrival for the class.  Hot tub, sauna and steam room will not be available.  Washrooms and water bottle fill station will be available upon entry.  No drinking fountains will be available on the pool deck.  Members must take all belongings with them on deck while they use the pool area.  Arrive for your reservation at the main entrance. Please come ready in your swimwear or workout gear, leave all unnecessary items at home or stored out of sight safely in your vehicle.

Changerooms are available for AFTER your swim/workout on a first come first serve basis.  Up to 14 spaces in the mens and womens for fitness participants and up to 13 spaces in the universal changeroom for pool participants. If all spaces are full please wait in the hallway/pool deck until a space becomes available  We ask that you limit your time to 10min max in the changeroom to allow all members the option to access the changeroom.

Change Room Cleaning Closure Times – Last entry to the change rooms is 15 minutes before closure times.

  • Womens Change Room – Monday – Friday 2:00-2:30pm
  • Mens Change Room – Monday – Friday 2:30 – 3:00pm
  • All Change Rooms Close at 7:30pm – Monday – Friday

Personal Fitness Coaching

Personal Coaching sessions allow members to work one on one with a qualified personal coach for 4 weeks. With four, 50-minute sessions, coaches and members will work together to create a workout plan to help the member meet their fitness goals. Extra COVID- 19 protocols are in place. Face coverings are strongly encouraged; trainers will stay 2 meters away from participant whenever possible. Members will be given sanitizer to clean equipment before and after use. Change rooms and showers are available for use after personal coaching sessions. Members have the option of booking a semi- private Personal Coaching session. Member booking Personal Coaching is responsible for registering second participant and ensuring they are present for sessions.

Private Swim Lessons

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons are for current Y members. Registration is required. Lessons are non-refundable.

Parent/caregiver (16+ yrs) participation is strongly encouraged if participant is under the age of 7yrs and/or uncomfortable in the water. Instructors will adapt teaching methods and use of pool space to ensure safety of participant while appropriate distancing is maintained. Make-up lessons will only be available when participant is required to miss a scheduled lesson due to illness; re-scheduled lessons are not guaranteed to be available during day/time of missed lesson.
Member booking the lessons is responsible for registering 2nd participant within same swimming ability and ensuring they are present for lessons.

Fitness Centre – Second Floor

The Fitness Centre – Second Floor includes access to treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes, ellipticals, free weight area, hammer strength equipment, selectorized weight equipment, step mills and limited other offerings. Washrooms and water bottle fill station will be available. No drinking fountains will be available. Arrive for your reservation at the main entrance. Cleaning Protocols: Members will be provided cleaning supplies and are expected to clean all equipment they choose to use before and after use.

Lane Pool/Leisure Pool – Lane Swimming or Water Walking will require members to reserve a space in the pool they wish to do lane swimming in. Water walking will only be offered in the the leisure pool.  Lane swimming will be available in either the lane pool or leisure pool.  Hot tub, sauna and steam room will not be available.  Washrooms and water bottle fill station will be available upon entry.  No drinking fountains will be available on the pool deck.  No snorkels permitted. Members must take all belongings with them on deck while they use the pool area.  Arrive for your reservation at the main entrance. Therapy Pool – Therapy Use or Slow Water Walking

Therapy Use/Slow Water Walking times are for members who prefer or require the warm water for therapy exercises, stretching or slow water walking. Therapy Pool floor depth is at 4 feet.  Hot tub, sauna and steam room will not be available.  Washrooms and water bottle fill station will be available upon entry.  No drinking fountains will be available on the pool deck.  No snorkels permitted. Beach Area of Leisure Pool & Therapy Pool – Kids Splash

Beach Area of Leisure Pool & Therapy Pool – Kids Splash is a great time for parents/guardians with small children to enjoy some fun in the pool.  Therapy Pool floor depth is at 1 foot.  Parents/guardians must remain within arms reach of children at all times. You must reserve a space for each person in your family who will attend.  Hot tub, sauna and steam room will not be available.  The watersides, waves, lazy river and spray features are all closed.   Washrooms and water bottle fill station will be available upon entry.  No drinking fountains will be available on the pool deck.  Members must take all belongings with them on deck while they use the pool area.  Arrive for your reservation at the main entrance. Leisure Pool & Therapy Pool – Family Swim

Family Swim takes place in the Leisure Pool (lazy river and some splash features available), Therapy Pool and one double-wide lane in the Lane Pool. Family Swim is a great time for parents/guardians and children to enjoy some fun in the pool. Children under the age of 7 – parents/guardians must remain in the water within arms reach of children at all times. Children 7-12 yrs – parents/guardians not required to be in the water, although strongly recommended; parents/guardians are required to maintain frequent eye contact with children. You must reserve a space for each person in your family who will attend. Hot tub, sauna and steam room will not be available. The watersides and waves are unavailable. Washrooms and water bottle fill station will be available upon entry. No drinking fountains will be available on the pool deck. Member Service Desks

With the limited staff working at the Y our focus is on ensuring your visit is successful, as such, staff will be available greeting and checking members in for their reservation.  In the fitness areas a staff member will be available to answer questions and assist with our shared learning of new protocols.  Members are encouraged to use the Online Service Portal to purchase or update their account online.

Due to limited staffing Y phones are not currently being answered.  Limited hours of phone answering will begin on Tuesday July 14. Phones will only be answered Monday – Friday 8:30am – 1:30pm.

RESERVATION AND MEMBER CLEANING PROTOCOLS

Many protocols are in place, including but not limited to: wearing a mask/face covering is required (see above for detailed information), controlled access into Y facilities, maintaining distancing throughout Y facilities, directional walkways and enhanced cleaning protocols for both Y members and staff.  Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the facility.  As always, we will provide disinfectant for members to use on their equipment before and after use, and we will be diligent in encouraging members to do this practice. There is a built in period of time between reservations where staff will be disinfecting equipment and high touch surfaces.

One thing remains the same… our friendly and welcoming staff are ready to greet and assist you.  We are in this together.

Arrival for your Reservation

The Y will be using multiple entrances and exits.  Please check the areas below for where to arrive.

The 5 Minute Rule – Members may line up 5 minutes prior to the start of their reservation time & have access to enter the facility until 5 minutes past the start time.  The door will be locked and access closed after this period.

Upon arrival please wear your face mask/covering, line up  and maintain physical distancing of 6ft/2m.  We encourage you to introduce yourself to someone new; remember we are all in this together.  Smaller numbers in our facilities mean a great opportunity to meet new people in our Y community! Please ensure you arrive with photo ID or your previous membership card.  Y staff will need to see this to check you in for your reservation.

This will be required every visit to the Y… even after we get to know you.  We appreciate your assistance with this requirement.

A membership and a reservation is required to access the Y.  Drop in access without a reservation is not available.  At this time the Y is unable to accommodate access for drop ins, visiting Y members, guests or promotional members.
