HOW TO BUY A MEMBERSHIP AND RE-JOIN THE Y
Purchase a new membership using the Y’s Online Service Portal.
After you have purchased your membership, download the new Y mobile app. There is a 30-60 minute delay from the time of purchase so the app and our registration software can synch together. If you try to use the app before purchasing a membership you will not be successful. Details and how to videos about the Mobile App can be found here.
Mobile App: How to Use
Your Island Y uses a mobile app which allows members to make reservations for programs and facilities with limited capacity. We suggest you make your reservation 48hrs in advance for most programs/facilities. For specifics on reservations review the Reservation information for accessing the Y. Please purchase a membership first. You will not be able to reserve without a membership.
There is a delay between the two systems and may take up to 1 hour for your membership to appear in the app.
Allow notifications during your app installation to receive push notifications for changes/cancellations to schedules, reminders and other important information.

- Creating Your Account/Logging In
- Download the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island app from the Apple or Google Play Store.
- Create your mobile app account using the same email address as your Online Service Account.
- Don’t remember your email address? Click here to go to the Y Online Services and follow the forgot my password steps. Once you have successfully logged into the Online Service Portal you can use that email to access the app.

- Check your email and follow the prompts to create your password.
- When prompted, allow notifications to receive push notifications for updates or cancelations to the schedule.
- How to Make your Required Reservation
To Reserve a Time to Swim, or Squash/Racquetball Court
This includes access to the Pools & Courts
- Purchase a Y membership
- Log into the VIY app
- Click View Schedules
- From the menu on the top right of the screen, select your preferred branch location or all locations to view all classes
- Select date to see all available facility areas
- Available Facility area names will appear
- Click the drop-down arrow on the facility you wish to reserve.
- Click the start time to see the available times.
- Click the “Reserve” button to make your reservation
- If prior to 48 hours, it will alert you that reservations are not open
- Once you reserve your spot it will be saved in your app
- You will be able to view this in the reservation tab at the bottom of your app
- To cancel a reservation, go to your reservation at the bottom of the screen & click open, find the reservation and request cancellation
To Reserve a Class
This includes classes such as, Group Fitness, Cyclefit, Aquafit, Yoga etc.
- Purchase a Y membership
- Log into the VIY app
- Click Reserve Classes
- From the menu on the top right of the screen, select your preferred branch location or all locations to view all classes
- Select date to see all class offerings and locations
- Class name, time, location, and “Reserve” button will appear
- Click the “Reserve” button to register for the class
- If prior to 48 hours, it will alert you that reservations are not open
- Once you reserve your spot it will be saved in your app
- You will be able to view this in the reservation tab at the bottom of your app
- To cancel a reservation, go to your reservations at the bottom of the screen & click open, find the class and request cancellation
- Don’t Have a Mobile Device, Tablet or iPadReservations can be made using your email via our website. You will be prompted to log in using the email provided to the Y for your membership account.
