Purchase a new membership using the Y’s Online Service Portal.

Join the Y

After you have purchased your membership, download the new Y mobile app.  There is a 30-60 minute delay from the time of purchase so the app and our registration software can synch together.  If you try to use the app before purchasing a membership you will not be successful. Details and how to videos about the Mobile App can be found here.

If you do not have a tablet/mobile device click Step 3.

If you do not have a mobile device or tablet you can still make a reservation as follows:

To attend a class: Click here and use the Y website

To workout or lane swim: Phone the Y 250-386-7511 (limited phone hours M-F)

To reserve a children’s program/family swim: Reserve using the online service portal click here or phone the Y 250-386-7511 (limited phone hours M-F)

Mobile App: How to Use

Your Island Y is excited to launch a new mobile app which will allow members to make their required reservations to visit the Y. Make 1 reservation per day for a Class or the Fitness Centre or Pool facilities up to 48 hours in advance. Follow the steps below to get started.

Please note that you should purchase your membership first, then proceed with downloading the app. There is a delay between the two systems and may take up to 1 hour for your membership to appear in the app.

Allow notifications during your app installation to receive push notifications for changes to schedules and other important information.

Are you a Returning Y member… purchase a new membership starting July 14 so you can make reservations in the app.

New to the Y… you will not be able to log in to the app without an active membership, purchase a membership starting July 14!

Downloading the App

Download the YMCA-YWCA Vancouver Island Y Mobile App on the App Store or on Google Play.

 

 

Creating Your Account/Logging In

  1. Download the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island app from the Apple or Google Play Store.
  2. Create your mobile app account using the same email address as your Online Service Account.
    1. Don’t remember your email address? Click here to go to the Y Online Services and follow the forgot my password steps. Once you have successfully logged into the Online Service Portal you can use that email to access the app.
    2. Still need help email us at info@vancouverislandy.ca or call the Y during our limited phone hours.
  3. Check your email and follow the prompts to create your password.
  4. When prompted, allow notifications to receive push notifications for updates or cancelations to the schedule.

How to Make your Required Reservation

To Reserve a Time to Workout or Swim

This includes access to the Fitness Centres or Pools

  1. Purchase a Y membership
  2. Log into the VIY app
  3. Click View Schedules
  4. From the menu on the top right of the screen, select your preferred branch location or all locations to view all classes
  5. Select date to see all available facility areas
  6. Available Facility area names will appear
  7. Click the drop-down arrow on the facility you wish to reserve.
  8. Click the start time to see the available times.
  9. Click the “Reserve” button to make your reservation
  10. If prior to 48 hours, it will alert you that reservations are not open
  11. Once you reserve your spot it will be saved in your app
  12. You will be able to view this in the reservation tab at the bottom of your app
  13. To cancel a reservation, go to your reservation at the bottom of the screen & click open, find the reservation and request cancellation

To Reserve a Class

This includes classes such as, Group Fitness, Cyclefit, Aquafit, Yoga etc.

  1. Purchase a Y membership
  2. Log into the VIY app
  3. Click Reserve Classes
  4. From the menu on the top right of the screen, select your preferred branch location or all locations to view all classes
  5. Select date to see all class offerings and locations
  6. Class name, time, location, and “Reserve” button will appear
  7. Click the “Reserve” button to register for the class
  8. If prior to 48 hours, it will alert you that reservations are not open
  9. Once you reserve your spot it will be saved in your app
  10. You will be able to view this in the reservation tab at the bottom of your app
  11. To cancel a reservation, go to your reservations at the bottom of the screen & click open, find the class and request cancellation

Don’t Have a Mobile Device, Tablet or iPad

To reserve a class (aquafit, group fitness, cyclefit etc.) use your email via our website.   Locate the date and then choose your location, find the class and click Reserve.  You will be prompted to log in using the email provided to the Y for your membership account.
To reserve a time to workout or swim, OR if you don’t have an email please call our staff team at 250-386-7511. Please note due to limited staffing phone hours are reduced.  Calls will only be answered Monday – Friday 8:30am – 3:00pm
