Games Galore lets kids choose from a variety of board and table games that teach valuable life skills such as problem solving and cooperation. Legos, puzzle games, Jenga and more! Ages 6-12 years.

We believe that exercising is a part of healthy living; however, it can be hard to find time to stay fit when you are caring for young children. We can help! Our Kids Club services support you while you participate in a group fitness class or engage in your individual workout or swim program. Participants partake in activities such as crafts, reading, board games, puzzles, and building. Children can attend for up to 1.5 hours. Ages 6-9 years.
Playing and exploring is more fun with friends! Preschoolers start with active games designed to get kids up and moving while improving coordination, agility and balance. Participants then get creative and explore a variety of activities that help them develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Activities include puzzle games, cooperative games, circle time and much more! Children must be toilet trained. Ages 3-5 years.
Move and Groove
Dance, wiggle, laugh as we learn the joy of movement! This program focuses on being active through music and movement activities, while improving coordination, agility and balance. Children must be toilet trained. Ages 3-5 years.
Kids make friends, have fun and learn the values of fair play through basic sports and skill development. We aim to develop the foundations for different sports through exposure to object manipulation and locomotor movement skills such as running, jumping, kicking, throwing, catching and more! Ages 6-12 years.
Physical Literacy Programs
What is Physical Literacy? Physical Literacy is when kids have developed the skills and confidence to be active in lots of different sports and physical activities.
Why is Physical Literacy important? Developing physical literacy gives kids the confidence, competence and motivation to jump into a pick-up game of soccer or basketball, or to participate in any kind of physical activity. Physical literacy contributes to a child’s desire and ability to participate in any kind of physical activity or play, not just in high performance sport. There are also many linked benefits to being physically active, such as increased self-esteem, higher academic capability, and reduced risk of disease.
How does it develop? How do I get my kids involved? Kids develop physical literacy gradually through a variety of structured and unstructured activities. The nature of these activities changes as kids grow in age and ability. Parents can encourage movement and model being physically active. The following programs at the Vancouver Island YMCA-YWCA include an element of physical literacy learning: Move and Groove, Multi-Sports, and Preschool Play. Get fit together! Join us for this yoga inspired style class where you will strengthen, stretch, and connect as a family. Ages 4 years and older. Parent participation required.
Family Indoor Playground
Bring the whole family and drop in on our indoor family playground! Play, run, bounce and explore while meeting other families in the community. Parents are asked to stay and enjoy this program with their children.
