Located at 2139 Sooke Road, the West Shore Organic Teaching Garden is a partnership between the YMCA-YWCA of Vancouver Island and School District 62.  The Teaching Garden features a orchard of heritage apple trees, herb beds and berry patches, a perennial garden, large raised garden beds, and a productive vegetable garden.

The Teaching Garden has grown from humble beginnings in 2008 as a barren patch of schoolyard, thanks to the efforts of our volunteers and supporters it has grown and flourished providing an ample harvest through the summer and fall.  This organic produce is then provided to Y Community Health programs.  These programs include the Y Pandora Youth Apartments and the Young Moms Program at Kiwanis Family Centre.  The summer and fall harvest includes a wide variety of vegetables and fruits!
