DAY CAMP – SENIOR GRADES 6-8
For campers who completed grades 6-8 in June.
This day camp for campers who have completed grades 6-8 is ideal for both new and returning campers. Come and experience the next level of summer camp programs! Campers learn advanced skills in canoeing, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, and other camp activities. For example, rock climbing will take place at our hike-in climbing area (Nicola Ridge); you will take a day hike to different and spectacular areas in the Sooke Hills (on our property!), and in general campers will build on the skills learned in the various camp activities. Campers also participate in swimming, archery, atlatl, team games and nature explorations. The staff ratio is 1:5, and campers should pack a lunch and snacks to fuel them for each long day.
Day campers are at Camp Thunderbird from approximately 9:00am – 3:45pm. Travel time on the bus is outside of this time. Review the Transportation section for bus information.
OPTIONAL DAY CAMP OVERNIGHT
Camp Thunderbird offers an optional overnight experience on Wednesday night for campers who are attending day camp that same week. Please note that due to space limitations, pre-registration is required. Campers participating in this event will get to have an extended day of exploration at Camp. Dinner Wednesday, breakfast and lunch on Thursday will be provided. Our Food Services staff will prepare nutritious and tasty food that meets everyone’s dietary requirements. In the evening, the children will participate in a campfire event (songs and stories), and then sleep over.
