Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Camp Thunderbird summer programs. We believe this is the socially responsible thing to do and do not take this measure lightly. We know how disappointing this news will be for the 1300+ campers who were looking forward to playing, learning, and growing in the forest at Glinz Lake in July and August. The health of our campers, staff, volunteers and the broader community members is always our priority.

Explorers are our youngest overnight campers, those who will finish either Grades 1 or 2 at the end of the current school year. Explorers enjoy a fun-filled, two or four night camp and participate in activities targeted for children of their age. For many Explorers, this will be their first time away from home so we take extra care to ensure that their time at Camp Thunderbird is safe, comfortable and most importantly — fun.  Explorers spend all four or two nights in heated cabins with indoor washrooms and showers. Our Explorer counsellors are specifically chosen for their compassion and empathy, as well as their unique abilities and keen interest for working with young children.

For campers finished grades 1-2

  • 8 campers
  • New in 2020 – 3 day option
